Grain Bags - from Bunkerbags

temporary grain storage

Grain Bags, available from 'Bunker Bags', are your grain storage solution. Storing grain in grain harvest bags is a better option than storing it in ground bunkers and much more cost efficient than silos.

Bunker Bags supply a wide range of grain storage bags as well as the equipment used to fill and empty the storage bags. We have also developed or our own Australian made grain storage equipment.

The grain harvest bags are three metres in diameter and range in length from 60m to 90mt. The larger grain storage bags can hold over 300 tonnes of wheat and 250 tonnes of barley.

Bunker Bags can be securely sealed to keep grain free of pests. The carbon-dioxide emissions given off by the grain suffocate any bugs inside the bag. This does away with the need for chemicals to combat insect infestation.

What is the bag made of?

The bag is a laminated mix of three layers of PE (polyethylene). The first two layers act as a UV filter. The third inner layer is black. This contributes to the minimisation of insect infestation by creating a darkened environment. The bags are designed to stretch to a maximum of 10%. This is measured by the stretch pattern printed on the side of the bag and must be monitored during filling to prevent overfilling of the bag.

Where can we store a grain bag?

Wherever you want! In the paddock that you are harvesting, or back at the farm yard with the use of a side loader. As long as the bags are placed on even ground that's well drained and free of sharp objects.

Bunker Bag loaders are designed for the specific needs of Australian farmers with the safety of the operator in mind. The baggers can be filled from the header or chaser bin or a sideloader. The loading capacity of our filling machine is around 300 tonnes per hour depending on the grain type.

How do I empty the grain bag? [click for more info]

The bag is emptied by a machine that wraps the bag up as it augers the grain out at up to 180 tonnes per hour. The operation keeps the grain encompassed within the bag which makes for a clean and tidy process as any grain not picked up by the initial sweep augers will be pushed back over as the bag is rolled up by the hydrolic drum. This process can be viewed on the outloading video on this website.

Bunker Bags can offer you several types of grain harvest bags and lengths 60mt,75mt, 90mt all bags are 9ft or 3mt in diameter.

Our grain bags are specifically design for grain not fodder. They all come with 2 seals, patching tape and instructions how to fit bags.

Extra seals are available if required.
