Grain Bags
from Bunker Bags
Tim and
Mary Ann Sait started Bunker Bags in July
2003. Our first experiences with the bags was the unloading
of the 03/04 harvest bags. In seeing the success of the product
we invested in our own inloading machinery and went contract
filling for the 04/05 harvest.
Tim travelled as far north as Moree (northern NSW) and followed
harvest south as far as Geelong. Many may remember that year
a glut of lower grade barley. The growers that stored barley
that year saw significant increases of up to 100% from the
harvest price to when emptying their bags in the spring.
The following season saw Bunker Bags
take up the Richiger Machinery Victorian distributorship.
After completing the field day circuit and assembling and
supplying equipment to growers throughout New South Wales
and Victoria we set off contracting again for the 04/05 harvest.
Once again we saw depressed barley prices
but this year much more yield per acre resulting in many growers
taking the opportunity to store in a now proven system. Once
again these growers have seen up to 200% increase depending
on when the grain was outloaded.
Now heading into the 05/06 harvest we are
expecting extremely low yields but talking to various operators
within the grain processing industry we highly encourage growers
to take advantage of this on farm storage system as even their
low grade commodities will still be a much sought after item,
particularly if they remain outside of the grain receival
system, as it gives those buyers the opportunity to pickup
at call and they are willing to offer attractive packages
to grower willing to participate.
Bunker Bags are now developing their own
range of bagging and sideloading equipment for the 06/07 harvest.
These machines are principally a combination of the four different
types of machines that Tim has owned and operated over the
past two seasons. Combined with some of his own ideas he has
designed and built machinery to suit the Australian farms
and conditions.
Anybody interested
in participating either with contracting or purchases of equipment
please contact Tim to discuss further opportunities and options.
